This is a regular club event where a host has mystery guess for dinner. Normally pot luck.

Christchurch LED Project

Setup:

Each venue will need their light bulbs stacked against a suitable wall of the room with the 4 x collection desks positioned in front (trestle tables) with 2 x chairs at each table for volunteers.

The lightbulbs need to be easy to access.

You could also set up stations where attendees can lean, and complete their vouchers (if they haven’t done so) with pens near the door if there is room at the entrance of the venue or this can be done in the queue.

A beverage station will also need to be set up with tea & coffee etc for volunteers and an area for volunteers to take breaks and the catering to be placed (in the kitchen or side area if possible, away from public view).

As you are aware, one of our very successful community outreaches has been the installation of a walk-in freezer at the Delta Community Foodhub.

This coming Friday, while there is no official club meeting, there is a gathering opportunity for anyone interested in the following invitation:

"Delta Community Hub is incredibly grateful to Christchurch Sunrise Rotary for provision of the walk-in freezer that is now on site at the Foodhub at the Climate Action Campus, the old Avonside Girls’ Highschool. We would like to invite club members to attend a walk through of the freezer facilities on October 25 at 10.00am.

Access to the campus is via Cowlishaw Street, please take the second entrance and we will meet you there.

We hope to use this visit as an opportunity to take some photos to accompany a piece in some local community news, I hope that is okay with you."

The plan is that those of us who wish to can gather for coffee (and / or breakfast), first at the Richmond club at 9.00am and then go on to meet at the Foodhub at 10.00am to see firsthand the freezer 'in situ'.

Murray James a committee member and project manager will be talking about the history or the organisation and the site as well as the tumultous progress of the Orchard and building.

Hayley Guglietta the chair will discuss the exciting future plans for the organisation, the business plan for the building, orchard and urban farm.

They would like up to 10 people to Help with the parking, and manning the Gear UP Otautahi tent where we will be giving away the collected sports gear.

Children’s Day 2025 is a FREE community event which is about celebrating children. The day is about having fun, learning and gaining information. More importantly, parents and caregivers don’t have to say NO, as all activities are free. Our aim is to create an environment to provide moments of joy and fun to families that might not necessarily be able to have moments like this often.  We see around 15,000 people over the 4 hours. All activities and entertainment are free of charge, so parents and caregivers don’t have to say no to their children’s participation.

A car rally that will take you to parts of Christchurch that you may not have seen before.  The first car to the finish line may not be the winner.  If you get there too fast - or too slow - points will be deducted, plus there are points for questions, and the things that you have to do along the way that add to your overall score.
After the rally, we can all enjoy the ambience, food (perhaps dinner if that's what you fancy), beverages, and storytelling at our final destination whilst the judges collate the results, and announce the 2024 results.

Date:  Sunday 1st December  (If there are people how would like to join in, but are unable to make it on that date, please let Marty know, as we may move the event to early 2025

Time:  Start 3pm  

Price:  $20 per car
